Paul Guthrie (ATT), Tax Senior

Background: Paul joined TTR Barnes in November 2018, having previously spent seven years working for EY in their Personal Tax department. He dealt with an allocation of high net worth individuals and was responsible for overseeing their tax compliance obligations as well as dealing with tax investigations and advisory work. Paul was also part of a team that dealt with international tax issues for globally mobile employees of multinational businesses. Paul originally trained as a journalist and spent a year working as a reporter at the Hartlepool Mail before deciding to change career.

Specialisms: Paul deals with a range of personal tax issues for clients with a particular focus on small businesses and the tax issues encountered by their owners. He has also assisted clients with other issues such as planning for Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax to name a few. Paul is ATT qualified and is currently working towards becoming CTA qualified with a specialism in Owner Managed Businesses.

Most likely to spend the weekend: Paul enjoys sports and likes to enter running races from time to time to keep fit. He is a football fan and a lifelong follower of Sunderland AFC. He’s a dad to one young boy which tends to take up a large portion of his time outside of work.
