HMRC technical glitch misses payments on account

15th January 2019

A technical glitch in HMRC systems has put self-employed tax payers at risk of being charged for late payments.

Those already having filed their returns may have received bills from HMRC for last year’s tax payment, which fail to include the “payment on account”.  Subsequent reminders may also be impacted because of the automated nature of the system.

For peace of mind you should work with your accountant to double-check the amount quoted against the actual tax return.
