Self-Assessment tax bill can not be paid at post office from December

22nd October 2017

As of 15th December 2017 you will no longer be permitted to pay your self-assessment tax bill via the post office.

Currently you are permitted to pay up to £10,000 at the post office, but this has been changed as part of the HMRC timeline of digitalisation and modernisation.

You will still be able to pay by debit card or cash if you both:

  • Still get paper statements from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC)
  • Have the paying-in slip HMRC sent you
